| The men have just returned from Shinejinst. Our drill rig broke down again while we were making a test bore. Grrrrr. We need a part from the US but it's just a little part, so it will be easy to get it to Mongolia - not like LAST TIME! We met and talked with a lot of people, gathering
the senior citizens and doing a mapping game with them. We think they understand that we want to listen to their
issues and aspirations. There is a lot of work to do building trust and friendship in Shinejinst. After leaving there the truck broke down twice and got stuck in sand nine times (but who's counting) so we had fun digging it out. | Mapping with elders in Shinejinst |

One stretch of 140 kilometers took about 15 hours to drive - lots of team bonding time. For well-drilling the trip was a nightmarish series of disaster upon
disaster, but in terms of laying a foundation for future CHE ministry, a fabulous success.
We still don't have an apartment in Bayankhongor. The rest of the team is settled but we need a place next January. Then we can get our junk out of Adia & Chuka's extra room when we return from our furlough in the US. |
Pastor Batmonkh & family in Bayanlik | There are already a few Christians in some of the places on the
scenic route back from Shinejinst to Bayankhongor. We visited
church leaders in three other places. There are good opportunities
to work together with them to do community development, CHE
style. It's great to be able to encourage believers who work in very
remote and sometimes lonely corners of Mongolia. |
|
| Now the team is gearing up for another couple of trips. Since the
rig is busted again there isn't much use for the truck, so we need
more suitable wheels. They are going to sell the truck soon and
get a 'Porgon' (Russian 4wd van). Then wives and kids can go too, and we can speak with greater authority on healthy marriage and Christian family. Plus it's more fun if the kids come, and with wives cooking we get better food. We are praying that the team can find a car that
won't strand us in the Gobi - not like LAST TIME! |
Thanks for your gifts and encouragement. Pray for the folks in Shinejinst and other places in the Gobi desert. Please also remember to pray for Adia & Chuka, Edree & Oyuna, Amaraa & Chimgee as they are working without us for the next few months. Remember their kids too, adjusting to a new place and new schools. We and they appreciate your prayers very much. | Making friends |

Here is this month's Team Expansion letter:
'Thank you for your service.' This is phrase I say every time I meet a member of the armed forces. But today, I say it to you too! Whether or not you're a donor, a friend, a family member, or a missionary with Team Expansion, we really, really mean it. You've been with us for quite a while now and it does not go unnoticed. At Team Expansion, we understand the value of our members. We're very happy to have you as a loyal member like you and we hope you will be with us for years to come. Everyone here at the Int'l Services does everything we can to support you, your records, your identity, your privacy and your work as best we can. We would like to make sure that you're still happy serving in partnership with us. If you need anything, write me. If I'm not the right person to fix the situation, I'll find the one who is. Once again, thank you so much for continuing to serve with us. Without a doubt, we appreciate your camaraderie, service, and partnership.
Gratefully yours,
Doug Lucas
